A new old idea! 😉

Hello everyone!

I have already made this card (click) a few years ago. At that time I used a ribbon because it did not go well with a paper strip.

This time I tried again with a paper strip and look, ----- it worked!

I cut a white cardboard slightly smaller than the base card and watercolored it in light pink.
I colored two white paper strips (0,4 x 31 cm) with Lemon Lime Twist (Stampin'Up) and glued them together in the lengthwise.
I began the folding with the straight strip. - Just by eye, no measuring tape or so!
Once finished the folding, I turned the fir and put a small piece of double-sided tape on each end of the folds. Once done, I turned the fir again and stuck it to the pink background, starting by he straight strip, up to the top! "branch by branch".
I stamped the sentiment three times in a row without re-inking (is this the right word?) and moved at each time slightly to the left.
To finish, I stuck the panel to the base card and added a tiny red foam star to top of the fir.

The advantage of paper is that it is more docile than the ribbon and and so it is easier to put on - I still do not understand why it was a problem at the time!
.... On the other hand, I think the ribbon looks more elegant!

What do you think?

  1. Eine tolle Idee und ja, man muss sich manchmal einfach an frühere Techniken erinnern, denn die waren auch gut und brachten tolle Ergebnisse - wie man bei dir sehen kann.

  2. What a fantastic and eye-catching idea. Your ribbon-style Christmas tree is just awesome and so neatly put together. Your watercolour background is so delicate although it leaves ever such a slight pattern behind the focal image and we do love our 'clean, unpatterned, 'white' space' at Less is More! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us and I'm sure the recipient is going to love this ingenious Christmas card.

  5. Wow, this is a stunning design! It worked amazingly well this time! Thanks for sharing with us at the Christmas Card Throwdown. (And yes, re-inking is the right word! You can also call this first, second and third generation stamping, when you re-stamp without re-inking in between.)

  6. Your card is beautiful! Your idea for the tree is absolutely brilliant. I love the soft pink watercolor background too -as Sarah mentioned a bit more empty space would make your card more clean and simple but your card is anyway wonderful and I hope to see you playing along at Less Is More soon again!

  7. People have so many ideas! This is brilliant and looks so effective. The ribbon has a lovey sheen which paper wouldn't have but I'm sure either would be great.
Thanks for playing along at Christmas Card Throwdown.
